i will no longer be updating this site, i didn't like the restrictions, or the fact that it was an msn site...i dunno..i kinda have this dislike for msn....but we won't get into that

this past saturday, i went with cristina (mike's sister) to the mom, pop, and tots fair. it was pretty neat, tons of kids, and tons of things for kids to enjoy.

there was a lot of play areas for all the munchkins, a karate demostration, annnnnd! ponies!! damien has only seen a horse once before, and we weren't able to get all that close, and it was pretty cold outside, so being able to see the ponies from a few feet away was absolutely the best thing ever for him. he stared, did a bit of excited screaming, and clapped. it was so cute to see.

after watching the ponies, we went over to the petting farm, read the instructions (don't pet the wallaby anywhere other than the back!), and went in. damien at first was a little cranky, unsure of being inside, and me holding him because his robeez wouldn't hold him up on the wood-chips. but as soon as we found a "quiet" corner and one of the goats came over for petting, damien was THRILLED!  he completely understood our "gentle hands" whispers, and was very nice to all the goats who came near us. one of them was even pregnant!! he stood and pet a few of the baby goats too, some of who were still nursing, and some who look like they stopped the night before, they were so tiny, i think even damien was aware that he had to be extra gentle with them.

all in all it was a fun afternoon, damien had a blast, we got a lot of pamphlets for lots of different things, a few free samples, and i got out of the house :)

i can't believe my little man needs a hair cut!

so i gave mike a challenge last night just as we were heading to bed, to try and find out how i can put a count-down to something (in this case, damien's age...so really its a count-up) along with a few other things i've seen and want.

when i woke up this morning, ta da, it was there!! its so nice to have someone here who understands all the information they type out about customizing, most of it is sooo far over my head that it hurts to try and figure it out. (i'll blame this on my mommy brain).

in other news, damien threw his first tantrum yesterday, for a whopping 25 minutes. nothing i tried and could think of would calm him down, so it got to the point where i just lied on the couch with my eyes closed while he sat on the ground screaming and crying and then trying to get up but because he was so upset, he'd fall, and this means he would cry even more. he ended up throwing up an hour or so later...but has been good since, so obviously he was just cranky, and needed to get it over and one with (something i'm sure most of us would understand).

he's been great otherwise though, learning more things every day. his new "favourite" thing to do (or so it seems) is to sit when he wants something. its almost like a puppy...only a lot cuter, because he's my baby and not my dog . i'll explain. we're in the SLOW process of weaning damien, and its going MUCH better than it originally had. we're up to 3 or so bottles a day, along with meals, and he only nurses right before naps and bed, and then during the night (something we're working on too...but its looooong process, and last night i successfully got him back to sleep without nursing!) anyway. after i make his bottle, damien will follow me from the kitchen to where ever he decides is the right bottle place (he currently favours lying right next to the couch staring out the window...i don't feel like fighting him, so we let him get away with it!) and then he'll sit down and wait for you to hand him his bottle. he's still figuring out how to drink from the bottle or sippy cup without lying down at least somewhat, but its so cute to see him sitting there, happily holding his bottle and drinking away.

he also does the same sort of thing when it comes time for a diaper change...which is making it a lot easier to convince him they aren't so bad! the only thing we have to watch for now is that he doesn't get into the wipes, since they apparently are a LOAD of fun to pull out and "wash" things with.

anyways, things are good, and damien is learning new words every day! he waves bye to people, and the past few days has even been trying to get a "bye" out (though it sounds a lot like a eyeeee sound) and yesterday decided sharing bath toys would be a good game.

i'm so glad he's growing....but i really miss my baby man!

so this weekend, we went to a winter festival for the local community league. it was mostly disapointing, meant for older kids.

BUT! damien's "friend" camillo was there, so they spent close to an hour inside running around after each other and pointing to various kid entertaining things.

the highlight of it though, was coming home and damien some how got paper hats made for him by uncle ben. i think there was close to 5 or 6 hats made in total....and most of them too big for damien's head, so he'd wander around with a hat over his face. at one point he walked right into the arm of the couch and fell flat on his butt. it was so cute though....he wasn't upset by it at all, just pulled himself up and put his hat back on for the wandering around all crazy like.

i'm going to attempt to upload some of the pictures of the hat wearing tonight, but our computer has been acting up tonight, so i make ZERO guarantees.
